DAY 1: Bobby and the power of children in campaigning

Always popular with the younger set (and he still is!), Bobby took the thoughts of our younger citizens into consideration, even when they couldn’t cast a vote for him. He was one of the first politicians to literally put children first.

He often included his own children in campaign travels and appearances, but he especially enjoyed meeting local kids from all socioeconomic backgrounds that supported him even though they weren’t old enough to vote. Their active involvement in politics was important to him. He often joked that if they lowered the voting age to 6, he’d sweep all the primaries.

Check out this early campaign video to see how he connected with kids, not always something easy to do.
